He was then recruited to a joint faculty position at MD Anderson and the Baylor College of Medicine, where he held dual appointments as an Assistant Professor.

In addition to treating patients with cancer, Dr. Settle conducted translational research on brain and spine tumors and served as the course director for resident doctors training in radiation oncology. While at MD Anderson, Dr. Settle developed expertise in stereotactic radiosurgery of the brain and spine, including the use of Gamma Knife to treat patients with intracranial disease.

Dr. Settle and his wife always dreamed of returning to their roots on the west coast, so when he was recruited as the Medical Director of the Alaska Gamma Knife Center, they jumped at the chance to move their four children to Alaska. Dr. Settle is spearheading the Gamma Knife® program at Anchorage Radiation Therapy Center which uses the latest cancer treatment technology, the Elekta Gamma Knife® Icon™ , for non-invasive treatment of both cancerous and non-cancerous tumors and conditions in the brain.

“I am so thrilled to be working with Dr. Chung, Dr. Yordy, and Dr. Kusano to bring cutting-edge oncology care to Alaska. I really enjoy establishing a diverse practice, and bringing the skills that I’ve developed over the last two decades to help Alaskans with a variety of different cancers. The truth is, cancer treatment is currently undergoing a revolution, and using modern tools we are able to help the majority of patients.”
